According to the perspective of new materialists, the mind does not operate separately in the process of building mathematics concepts. Incorporating body, its movements, and the material surroundings into mathematics learning may shape students’ mathematical learning. We draw on the theories of embodiment and the methodology of material phenomenology, exemplifying the role of the body movements in an elective, interdisciplinary undergraduate course that elaborates mathematics and dance. The data analysis mainly rests on a blue-haired student’s assignment and students’ answers in the after-class interview.
