Abstract

In the research and school improvement project “Leistung macht Schule” (LemaS) researchers and practitioners are collaborating in a large-scale research-practice-partnership (RPP). LemaS aims to establish a nationwide school culture fostering the potential and performance of students and, furthermore, aligning the school system towards more educational justice.
The paper presents the theoretical background of the processes that are initiated and implemented in two subprojects of LemaS. Using data from a survey evaluation with qualitative and quantitative elements, two questions are discussed: a) in which cases practitioners benefit from RPPs and b) which criteria for school improvement become evident. This way, not only a deeper understanding of RPPs in school improvement work is gained, but also empirically based steering knowledge.
