Experiencing Discrimination: Replacement Theory and Faculty Perceptions at a Southern Rural University

Abstract

Participants in the January 6th insurrection were more educated and wealthier than White terrorist extremists of the recent past. Within an international context wherein “the great replacement theory” is mainstreamed, we interrogate faculty responses to a survey regarding their witness and experience of discrimination at a Southern Rural University, wherein White males were most likely to report experiencing discrimination. We discuss implications for critical human resource development as faculty bodies diversify and as a matter of consequential education research in pursuit of truth, what it means to have a campus that is welcoming, inclusive, and safe for all.
