Exploring Teachers' Understanding of Collaborative Learning and Teamwork Strategies in Makerspaces (Poster 5)

Abstract

Within the scope of "2023 Educational Vision", the Turkish Ministry of National Education established Design and Skills Labs. The latter are implemented in public schools for all k-12 levels around the country. By adapting to the integrative model and the ICLC framework, this paper explores public school teachers understanding of collaboration and teamwork strategies in a makerspace-like environment. As this paper is a mixed research method, the data was collected through (1) semi-structured interviews with field experts, and (2) an online survey with public school teachers in Turkey. The findings indicated teachers’ strengths and challenges when faced with a different learning environment. Therefore, recommendations regarding maker-teachers competencies were underlined.
