Federal regulations require the inclusion of all students with disabilities in all state and district assessments, but providing assessments that are accessible to students with sensory disabilities can be challenging. This paper analyzes and summarizes the research literature and current state accessibility policies for 15 accommodations that are commonly used by students with sensory disabilities. By analyzing and summarizing both research and policies on the same accommodations, this paper presents a comprehensive overview of how research findings and policies align in terms of accommodations for students with sensory disabilities, as well as identifying gaps in the literatures, and areas where further research is needed. The findings can be used to refine accessibility policies and improve practice.
