Abstract

During the last decade a growing interest has existed in the study of implications of teacher collective efficacy (TCE) on school academic improvement. This study aims to contribute the incipient body of knowledge regarding TCE developed in Latin-American considering the Chilean educational context characterized by a highly segregated system based on students’ socioeconomic background (SES). Hence the study purpose was to analyze the association between TCE with school level variables and verify the predictive power of TCE over the school academic effectiveness. Results showed significant associations between TCE with SES and School effectiveness. Also, a multiple regression analysis showed that school academic effectiveness is significantly explained by SES and one dimension considered in TCE (Teachers’ task analysis).
