This duoethnography focuses on the experiences of two women faculty of color navigating experiences as participants in the article publication process as both writer-researchers and as reviewers. Using a shared journal as the artifact to drive critical dialogue, the authors analyze their experience and find patterns of racism that are difficult to address in the context of masked review, and authors speculate about ways to socialize scholars of color into review more fully and how the process might be structured to be more supportive and justice-oriented.
