To improve college access for first-generation Latinx students, current college choice process experiences were assessed to ensure equitability. The findings showed that during the college choice process participants had several motivations and considerations, felt various emotions, denoted that se necesita un pueblo (it takes a village), and required building counselor confianza (trust) regardless of the type of college they intended in pursuing. Hence, future research regarding the college choice process should further consider family and community, include a higher education lens, and apply holistic counseling practices.
