This meta-analysis examined the effects of learning analytics dashboards on students’ learning outcomes. Using the generalized least squares estimation (GLS) technique to pooled effect size from 15 studies, the overall effect size was significant (g = 0.15, p < 0.05), suggesting that the learning analytics dashboard contributed to learning outcomes. Moderator analyses using a mixed-effects meta-regression model were conducted to examine if the variables impact the effectiveness of the learning analytics dashboard. The results showed that none of the moderator variables were found to be significant. The findings indicate that the design and research of the learning analytics dashboard are still in the preliminary stage. Further research directions are discussed in this study.
