Abstract

This paper is divided into three parts. First, it provides an extensive review of the literature about graduate student socialization in American higher education. Second, it articulates central higher education theories on graduate student socialization and offer original perspective on international graduate students’ socialization in contemporary U.S. universities. Third, it provides four theoretically and empirically based recommendations to faculty and administrators to best support the next generation of international graduate students.
