Abstract

This study examined how Latina’s graduate degree aspirations changed from their freshman to senior year of college using data from the 2015 CIRP Freshman Survey (TFS) and the 2019 College Senior Survey (CSS) administered by the UCLA Higher Education Research Institute (HERI). A conceptualization of Latinx Students in Higher Education (Garcia et al., 2020) guided the four variable blocks in the linear regression for analysis. Results demonstrate a slight downward trend between Latina’s freshman and senior year graduate school aspirations. The final model included 22 variables of which four entered the final model; the pre- test for graduate school aspirations, self- rating: self- confidence (intellectual), faculty provide encouragement to pursue graduate study, and ethnic experience: dined or shared a meal.
