Abstract

This descriptive-interpretive qualitative study explores the discourses of educational technology scholars in relation to how they define different technology-based learning environments. The analysis of one hundred-five definitions extracted from 191 doctoral dissertations provided a comprehensive guide “Technology-based Learning Environment Evaluation Framework” (TLEEF). In this presentation, we will introduce the TLEEF framework that suggests an approach to how to understand the nature of technology-based learning contexts by questioning the space, time, agents, levels of operation, rules, power, and culture aspects of the built environment. TLEEF helps instructors, students, designers, and program evaluators gain a clear awareness of the physical, social, educational, psychological, and environmental features of any technology-based learning setting
