"This Is a Systemic Issue": Teaching Racial Literacy After a Racial Reckoning

Abstract

This paper focuses on a case study in which a Black social studies teacher sought to help her students gain a sense of racial literacy. Findings indicate that she incorporated local context, focused immensely on institutional and systemic racism, and brought an intersectional approach to teaching her students about racism.
