Few syntheses of quantitative tools in mathematics education exist and even fewer discuss the
validity evidence of these instruments. Our research seeks to address this gap by documenting
and compiling a list of instruments from existing mathematics education literature that measure
grades 7-12 mathematics students’ attributes. Then, we searched for the associated validity
evidence for each instrument utilizing the Standards' five sources of validity, in addition to
evidence for reliability. Validity evidence was found for approximately 60% of the instruments
included in our review.
