Building off previous research by the authors alongside perspectives from science fiction studies, science and technology studies, and futures studies, this paper presents the concept of speculative pedagogy via science fictional storytelling as a framework through which truth can be reimagined in education, including possible applications in practice. In a time where binary thinking and division run rampant, mis/dis-information informs sociopolitical life, and existential issues - such as climate change - perpetually increase in urgency, we explore speculative storytelling as a pedagogical mode and curricular orientation that offers a third path towards truth: a path where complex realities can be imagined beyond totalizing utopian and dystopian orientations that often narrow our capacity to act in the present.
