Schools of Education Dean’s (SOE) play a unique role in leading social change within the complex ecosystems of education and their local communities, as SOE provide leadership across a wide range of stakeholder groups-researchers, funders, policy makers, students, faculty, administrators, K-12 leaders, and others. This presentation shares results of interviews with Deans of SOE’s throughout the country (N=30) conducted throughout the Covid 19 pandemic. The study highlights the leadership and responses of SoE's to the shared challenges of COVID19, the economic challenges associated with the pandemic, and the heightened awareness of systemic racism that engulfed our country, as well as the specific challenges faced by individual institutions. Special attention is paid to promising practices related to issues of social justice.
