Psychometric Properties of the Survey Measuring Data-Informed Instruction

Abstract

This study examined the psychometric properties of the Data-Informed Instruction Survey (DIIS) by using polytomous latent trait models, a Bayesian second-order Confirmatory Factor Analysis (Second-Order CFA), principal component analysis, and reliability analysis. Data used for this study included valid survey responses from 62 middle school teachers. The study showed that the DIIS had reliable scores and valid constructs for inference. The DIIS could provide researchers with a reliable and valid instrument for use in their future research, school leaders with a tool to assess teachers’ capacity in DII and thus develop teachers in this regard, teachers with a tool to aid self-reflection, and teacher education programs with a powerful tool for diagnosing the strengths and weaknesses of program participants.
