Practical Consideration for an Evaluation Process to Look at Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access of an After-School Program

Abstract

This paper discusses the partnership between a national after-school program designed to enhance girls’ social, emotional and physical skills and behaviors to successfully navigate life experiences, and an external evaluator who conducted an external review process of the program’s Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) in their program. The paper will share practical considerations for organizations looking to conduct an evaluation of IDEA as well as tips on how to ensure active engagement from staff, program participants and community members throughout the evaluation process.
