Exploring a Place-Based Understanding of Parent and Early Educator Perspectives on Child Well-Being

Sun, April 16, 2:50 to 4:20pm CDT (2:50 to 4:20pm CDT), Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Floor: B2 Level, Imperial Ballroom

Abstract

Parents and early educators play a critical role in supporting the well-being of young children, birth to 5. A primary dimension of developing responsive programs and policies that enhance lives and create opportunities for young children, families, and educators is through gaining a deepened understanding of their perspectives on how child well-being is defined and what factors can facilitate or hinder well-being. Cultivating a place-based understanding of these individual and collective perspectives is especially crucial in helping local communities create a shared understanding of what matters most for young children and what proximal resources would best support young children, the adults in their lives, and the contexts in which they are nurtured.
