To disrupt inequities in school-to-home relationships, several scholars have called for two-way and reciprocal approaches to engagement, in which educators actively seek out opportunities to learn from and with parents and families. While such an approach serves clear, beneficial purposes, they have not been examined in the context of a population of parents—queer parents—in which visibility may be rather complex and may produce more harm than good. The purpose of this paper is to fill a gap in research by examining the relationships that gay fathers have with their children’s education.
