This paper describes the design and implementation of a collaborative participatory action research effort between a youth-serving organization in Boston and a higher education institution using multiple frameworks. The collaboration aims to support the development of STEM identity among middle school Latinx youth by designing, implementing, and evaluating STEM and career development lessons. It is a conceptual paper that discusses the research in relation to two frameworks, the translational research paradigm and Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological and Person-Process-Context-Time framework, which provides larger national and regional contexts.
