Abstract

Relationships between families and schools are important in the educational experiences of young children. However, the COVID-19 pandemic that began in 2019 and spread rapidly around the world made great changes in families and early childhood programs. Teachers, parents and children are among the individuals affected during this times. This study examines whether parent and program characteristics impacted the way early childhood parents rated the quality of their relationships with teachers. Results suggest parent’s education, income, age of child, center location, distance learning availability, impacted how parents perceived their relationships with teachers. Parents’ home environments may be one effective strategy for promoting positive relationships in times of challenges.
