The presenters in the second paper seek to understand in what ways teaching behaviors and classroom environment in a gifted and talented setting should differ from those found in the general education classroom. They propose that these students hold distinct cognitive, social, and emotional characteristics and therefore require modifications to instruction to develop their potential. The authors will share an overview of research-based teaching practices in gifted education, observation tools, and national standards for supporting teacher growth feedback in the field of gifted and talented education.
