Abstract

The author of this paper documents how Career and Technical Education (CTE) has changed over the past 20 years. Furthermore, the author explores the difference in expectations between CTE and traditional academic classroom and notes that most teacher evaluation instruments do not consider these differences or provide for variances in different CTE classroom settings. CTE programs require teachers to implement a combination of academic and technical skills that supervisors must understand in order to provide differentiated observation and feedback loops to support teacher growth.
