Abstract

This research paper embraces a social constructivist approach anchored in the graphic novels of the participants to document the complexities of the lived experiences of six Caribbean migrant youth in Canada. The data collected from the participants' graphic novels and one interview revealed that some migrant youth often felt judged as at-risk or problematic in schools and thought their teachers make many assumptions about their academic ability. The research invites educators to develop more inclusive practices that facilitate migrant youth success in schools.
