Persistent Persistence Issues: 25 Years of Student Employment and Higher Education Still Has a Problem

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between student employment and race on persistence over a 25-year period. Using logistic regression modeling on nationally representative longitudinal data, I find students who work are less likely to persist, with students of color who work being at greater risk of not persisting.
