Engaging in Civic Discourse: A Critical Discourse Analysis of Women Community College Presidents

Thu, May 4, 4:15 to 5:45pm CDT (4:15 to 5:45pm CDT), SIG Virtual Rooms, Research on Women and Education SIG Virtual Paper Room

Abstract

Community colleges have a larger representation of women presidents than their four-year peers, yet there is limited research that looks at their experiences with civic discourse. In order to address this gap in the research, our study seeks to explore the ways in which women community college presidents talk about their engagement with civic discourse on campus. The results can inform the ways in which campus leaders promote civic engagement and discourse on campus.
