Technology Design and Collaboration in Rural Western India

Abstract

In this paper we discuss a project that was conducted in rural western India that focused on how to make science and technology relevant to students' everyday lives and how to increase student interest in science and technology related topics. The 6 month project was conducted in several different phases since the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools to shut down several times during the academic year 2021-2022. The project was part of a tinkering lab that was granted to the school through a program sponsored by the government of India. we attempted to design a program for students so as to make the tinkering lab relevant to their everyday lives and communities.
