In this text we investigate how official documents that govern Youth and Adult Education in Brazil contribute to the production of teacher and student subjectivities in this educational modality. We took as sources for this study the National Curricular Directive for Youth and Adult Education and documents pertaining to the National Examination for the Certification of Youth and Adult Skills. We assume that these documents are contributing to define the knowledge of this educational modality and simultaneously project certain performances to be developed by teachers and students. This production occurs in the midst of a double gesture of schooling in which the cosmopolitan citizen embodies hopes for humanity unified by reason and rationality.
