Part-Time, Partly Supported: What We Know About Adjunct Faculty Support (Poster 43)

Abstract

Support for part-time faculty at institutes of higher education vary widely. Moreover, there is a significant gap in literature and resources that aid in providing instructional support to part-time faculty for education-related credential programs (i.e., IHE programs which provide education and training for credentialing in education and related professions). Given the increasingly worrisome staffing crisis in education-related disciplines and increased institutional reliance on part-time faculty, it is imperative that instructors of students pursuing credentials are effectively supported by the IHE so they may provide meaningful instruction to students, preparing them for a long-lasting career in education. This study will review all existing research as a crucial first-step in identifying evidence based practices in providing instructional support to part-time faculty.
