Fri, April 14, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Floor: Level 4, Sheraton Ballroom IV and V

Abstract

The need to address educational inequities and build systems that embody equity and justice
through system changes was highlighted by the pandemic. This study researched the outcomes of
a developed supplemental assessment to understand an equitable leader's evolution through
collaboration not addressed through the current California assessment. The assessment was built
on the work of Ishimaru and Golloway’s equitable leadership practices for equity. Through
collaboration, collective efficacy was the focus, which has been found to reduce the academic
disadvantage experienced by minority students and to positively predict students' academic
achievement. Implications for research include a better understanding of how to prepare
principal candidates to develop as equitable leaders alongside a community collectively working
to support the success of all students.
