While Latina/o students maintain high aspirations to succeed in college, they are less likely to complete postsecondary degrees than their white counterparts. Research shows that this phenomena may be exacerbated by programs depicting them as “lacking” resources for success. More empirical research is needed to understand Latina/o students’ sociocultural strengths and to build upon their existing resources in college. This study examines the utility of combining quantitative measures of Community Cultural Wealth (CCW), a theory centered on the cultural assets of students of color, with Social Network Analysis. We tested the CCW scale and examined associations between students’ CCW and their social network structure. These methods can enhance our understanding of how students’ CCW is nurtured through their interpersonal connections.
