Abstract

Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a theory of motivation that explains how human needs impact human behavior. This study uses the 2019 data from the National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH) to investigate how family poverty impacts the psychological well-being of K-12 age children. Family poverty is measured by income and worsening food situation at home. The 2019 data from NSCH used a sampling weight and so it is considered a complex sample. Our analysis considered the Strata, the Clusters, and the Sample weight in the SPSS complex sample analysis. Using a general linear model, the result shows that worsening food situations at home negatively correlate with children's psychological well-being.
