Abstract

This study explores the current landscape of computing education research at institutions around the globe. We sought to better understand the options for graduate students and faculty, gathering information from (n= 30) representatives using a data collection tool. Drawing on their insider knowledge of the institutional programs, departmental affiliations, and requirements, we found that variation exists in the field and there remains a lack of formal computing education (CEd) degrees. Yet, CEd has continued to expand, with increasing coursework, designated tracks, and graduates in this interdisciplinary area. While most scholars reside in a computing or education related department, the emergence of new combined degrees provides additional academic choices. These findings provide insight into the diversity situations that presently exist.
