Abstract

In technology-enhanced learning environments, teachers face new challenges and demands to manage multiple constraints in classrooms and support students learning across social planes. A deep understanding is needed to unfold teachers’ orchestration practices in authentic settings. This paper presents an empirical study to understand a teacher’s classroom orchestration practices in a collaborative game-based learning environment in a K-12 STEAM classroom. Interaction analysis was used to analyze classroom video data. In this study, we reveal how a teacher used learning technology to orchestrate the classroom, especially describing how a teacher prioritized classroom orchestration practices and facilitated students learning using mediating tools.
