Abstract

In an era characterized by several world crises, the time is rife for research philosophies that facilitate social justice pertaining to both the product (i.e., society) and process (i.e., participants) of research. Enter critical dialectical pluralism (CDP; Author, 2013)—a philosophy that emphasizes procedural, process, and philosophical justice and that promotes both universalistic theoretical knowledge and local practical knowledge. This paper introduces CPD 2.0, which focuses on five core elements of being an ethical researcher: social justice, inclusion, diversity, equity, and social responsibility (i.e., SIDES). We will demonstrate the many SIDES of CDP 2.0 and how it represents not only a mixed methods-based research philosophy, but also an educational philosophy, as well as a life philosophy that re-imagines educational research.
