Faculty-Centered and Student-Serving: A Research Agenda for High-Quality Postsecondary Career and Technical Education Curriculum and Instruction

Fri, May 5, 4:15 to 5:45pm CDT (4:15 to 5:45pm CDT), SIG Virtual Rooms, Career and Technical Education SIG Virtual Paper Room

Abstract

This paper provides a roadmap for research to investigate postsecondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs’ curriculum and instruction practices based on findings in scholarly literature, professional practice, and faculty perspectives. Tied into the conference theme of Interrogating Consequential Education Research in Pursuit of Truth, the process of analyses to determine the research agenda wove together findings from scholarly literature, a leading professional practice association, and CTE faculty. High-quality research methods are suggested, in addition to topics in need of further research. It is expected that this focused research agenda will be of significance to both emerging and established researchers as well as national CTE organizations that execute high-quality research.
