Abstract

Global society today faces an array of global crises ranging from climate change to income disparities to racial violence. Humanity faces both existential and substantive threats. The academic, policy, and educational systems in place that aim to incrementally challenge and chip away at these grand global issues have yet to make the swift changes that we hope to see. A growing body of literature discusses how transitions from modernist ontologies and epistemologies may hold the key to thinking about these problems in a new way. In this review of literature, we also asked how our educational systems can shift in ways that better prepare students for the challenges that face humanity in the upcoming decades and generations.
