This paper examines white educators’ self-reported factors that they attribute to their learning and unlearning of the truths of racism and antiracism. The data is a part of two separate larger critical case studies and combined here to more fully understand white educators’ perspectives and motivations. We analyzed the factors using critical race theory (CRT) in order to determine whether particular factors represent color-evasive, self-congratulatory learning about racism or critical, collective work in efforts to disrupt inequities in schooling. The paper provides both scholarly and practical significance as the findings and discussion suggest a nuanced and critical understanding of factors that may contribute to white educators’ learning and thus, adoption of antiracist teaching.
