Abstract

Drawing from a larger dissertation project, this proposal uses storytelling in the form of speculative fiction to engage with currere and Black women teachers. Here, speculative fiction is a vehicle to illuminate a journey to the past, much like Walker (1989), Morrison (1987) and Green and Houston. (2020). It is here that I begin to tell my story and establish the question of “why we (Black women teachers) stay” through the continued juxtaposition of my own currere.
