Increasing Equity Through Creativity: A Mixed-Methods Study of Professional Learning With Technology (Poster 52)

Sat, April 15, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Hyatt Regency Chicago, Floor: East Tower - Exhibit Level, Riverside West Exhibition Hall

Abstract

Technology and the internet have long been heralded as a democratizing force, but even though many schools now have equal access to technology, students experience vastly different realities. This study intends to measure the effects of providing educators with access to creative tools and high-quality professional learning to develop the skills, capacities, and mindsets required to design learning experiences that foster student creativity. Using Bandura’s theory of triadic reciprocal determinism as a framework, this proposal details the initial findings from the teacher creativity survey pilot. It is the intent of the research team to publicly and openly share findings and resources resulting from this study in a timely manner through websites, podcasts, and blog posts as they become available.
