This study examines the relationship that Hofstede’s cultural dimensions (Hofstede, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1991; Hofstede & Bond, 1984; Hofstede et al., 2010), country, gender, platform type, and the interaction between platform and gender have on the students’ perception of Social Media Applications (SMAs) and Learning Management Systems (LMSs) for English language learning. The participants (N= 223) completed a perceptions scale which was part of a survey sent out as part of a larger research project conducted in Bangladesh, China, Costa Rica, and the United States. To determine the relationship among the variables, we employed a Bayesian multiple regression. The results showed that the predictor variables are not good predictors of students’ perception of SMAs and LMSs for English language learning.
