In this paper, we built on the Learning through Embodied Activity Framework (LEAF) and designed different types of play activities within a mixed-reality environment to help students engage in science modeling practice. The participants in this study are 16 first and second-grade students who participated in 6 sessions of embodied activities to explore the mechanism of pollination. We applied interaction analysis to classroom videos to explore how mediators in these activities orient students engaged in embodied play toward science modeling practices.
