Invisibility, tokenism, and marginalization have plagued our experiences as women of color in higher education. The five co-authors of this study, inspired by Black feminist and Chicana feminist philosophy, moderated and participated in pláticas to bear witness, establish trust, and generate empirical discussion on our academic and healing experiences. We focused our voices, personal stories, and cultural intuition to insist that our communities’ ways of knowing and learning offer significant contributions to both pedagogical and research methods. This article is a joint effort to relay our stories, of how we find joy, strength, and wellbeing in one another, and of how we aspire to alter academic environments so that future women of color PhD students know they are never alone.
