Abstract

This paper discusses why many female teachers in China react negatively to promotion and the reasons behind it, so as to help these teachers develop better in their career.
Using the grounded theory and NVivo 12 as the analysis tool, this study collected a sample of 30 female college teachers in the middle of their career.
Obstacles come from four aspects: macro, organizational, family, and personal. The support system is weak. Poor mobility.
To improve the professional development level of middle-aged female teachers, we should: break the system dominated by vested interests and men; Improve the representation of women at the school level; Increase school-level support and career planning guidance. At the family level, spouses give more support.
