A Collaborative Approach to Evaluation: Assessing an Outreach Program Designed to Build Educator Capacity to Support Students With Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

Abstract

This research presents findings from years 1-3 of a four year-longitudinal mixed-methods study. This research utilizes a collaborative approach to evaluation to assess the effectiveness of an outreach program designed to build capacity of educators to support students with FASD. Three sources of data were collected: 1) pre- and post-questionnaires (n=700 teachers), 2) program annual report data, and 3) interviews (n=7 teachers). The results of this research reveal the success of this outreach program in improving the practices of educators when working with students with FASD. This presentation will highlight the importance of a collaborative approach to program evaluation while highlighting how practitioners can leverage the results to increase access to equitable learning opportunities for students with FASD globally.
