Abstract

Educational improvement networks are an emerging organizational structure for creating systematic, focused, and rigorous continuous improvement within educational settings. However, the current field does not know enough about the value educators gain from such initiatives nor the obstacles they face while participating in improvement networks. Building on previous research on educators’ enactment of reform efforts and professional learning, we investigate the development of professional capacity inherent in educational improvement networks. This paper uses a descriptive mixed methods approach to uncover the experiences, benefits, and challenges of membership in educational improvement networks.
