Abstract

The First Wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic Induced an unprecedented change in Higher Education in UAE, forcing all students to transition to a virtual education format affecting students’ ability to focus, performance, and satisfaction with their education. Data prior to the pandemic showed no statistical significance among these variables between virtual education and face-to-face education. A subset of data on 135 students in UAE was analyzed from a Dataset from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, gathered through a comprehensive global survey conducted between May 5, 2020, to June 15, 2020. The researcher’s findings indicate that transitioning to virtual education during the first wave of covid-19 decreases students’ ability to focus significantly, which directly correlates with declining performance and satisfaction.
