Reenergizing Leadership for Student Success: A Collaborative Approach to Social Justice Development

Abstract

Schools are becoming increasingly diverse, and the need for high-quality inclusive, and equitable educators is more evident than ever. One way to address this need lies in the preparation of principals who are visionary leaders, student advocates, instructional leaders, collaborators, and risk-taking innovators. The Partner Research Association (pseudonym), in partnership with University A (pseudonym) and in collaboration with two urban school districts in South Texas (District 1 and District 2) are currently applying a leadership preparation model developed through a grant-funded project, “Reenergizing Leadership for Student Success” (RLSS). This collaborative project prepares school leaders to support high-poverty, low-performing urban schools to improve the achievement of high-need students within a culture of asset-based education, social justice leadership, and community involvement.
