Student Experiences and Perceptions of Teamwork in General Education Courses: A Factor Mixture Modeling Approach (Poster 29)

Sun, April 16, 2:50 to 4:20pm CDT (2:50 to 4:20pm CDT), Hyatt Regency Chicago, Floor: East Tower - Exhibit Level, Riverside West Exhibition Hall

Abstract

Foundational skills related to learning outcomes are often embedded in general education courses through collaborative learning or teamwork activities. However, there is a lack of person-oriented studies that investigate the student’s perspective on teamwork and their awareness of its value. This study implemented factor mixture modeling to examine both the latent structure of student teamwork experiences and perceptions, and the unobserved subgroups of students who engaged in teamwork activities with distinct patterns. A 2-class 4-factor mixture model is aimed to be found with the best model fit indicators.
